Segue This!
This morning, I had a dream...
It was family vacation time again, and we had chosen to go somewhere tropical and stay in a nice hotel. Our hotel room was suspended high above the ground and connected to the hotel proper via a sturdy plastic tunnel. Think modern Swiss Family Robinson.
After a long day of activities, several of us were relaxing in the pool. Since the pool was very crowded, "Standing room only", I told Angie I had decided to go outside and have a look around. I wandered around the hotel parking lot, playing with my iPod.
Somehow, I ordered a Segway from Woot. It was very cheap. It arrived nearly instanteously. Did I mention this was a dream? And oh yeah, I was still in nothing but my swimsuit. Not quite a naked dream then...
I tooled around in the parking lot on the Segway and decided to head inside. Like any normal Segway owner, I went right inside on the vehicle. Brandon met us in the lobby. I say us because at this point I think my brain had some how incorporated that I needed to go to work and one of my coworkers was there.
Brandon was very excited about the Segway. So I let him borrow it. He immediately took off.
My coworker and I headed upstairs to the room. I opened the door with my card key and we started down the tunnel. Uncharacteristically, the tunnel was swaying and there was a rush of air. The entire left side of the tunnel and some of the floor had been torn apart. I looked down and saw my new Segway mangled and in pieces.
We raced ahead to the room, careful not to fall out of the tunnel. Brandon was there, seemingly unharmed, lying on a couch.
I screamed, "What happened?"
Brandon started to answer and then everyone was yelling. Slowly, mom calmed things down.
"I have a plan," she said. "The hotel buffet is all-you-can-eat. So, we get some ham and..."
... then I woke up.

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass...
Today, while out on other errands I decided to track down a hard cover copy of The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan. It was the only book in the Wheel of Time series that I didn't have in hard cover and thus a glaring omission in the set. I even had New Spring, but not book five. Well today I found a near mint condition copy for under $10 in a little used book store nearby.
Legend fades to myth...
